Lasts week’s Patio and Grill event was attended by over 500 people.
We had a great time grilling filet mignon and marinaded chicken. The first two days were a bit wet from the rain but we still managed to take care of our wonderful customers. Saturday was a beautiful day and we enjoyed steaks till late into the evening.
I was able to demo the infrared gas grill to quite a few people who have been very frustrated with grilling. The complaint I heard repeatedly was, I simply cannot get a steakhouse-quality steak. If I want the inside to be medium to medium well, the outside is burned crisp. I had one customer who said he quit trying and only grills burgers and chicken.
I looked him straight in the eye and pulled a ‘Roy’s Cut’ of filet mignon from my refrigerator and told him, “You’re in for a surprise!” (‘Roy’s Cut’ is 2” to 2-1/4” thick center cut from Sugar Valley Meats). He looked at the steak and said with a grin, “That’s going to take you two hours to make!”
I said, “Watch me. 15 minutes and we will have a medium steak of the finest taste anywhere.” He tasted the steak and shook his head in unbelief. The next morning he came and bought a grill for himself!
This grill reaches temperatures of around 1800 degrees and is one of the few grills available where you can grill a 2-1/2” thick steak to perfection.

This spring I introduced another new product that’s very exciting if you like BBQ. Because of the patio we built here at the store, I brought in a new line of wood chip fired smokers. During our recent patio show event I made some BBQ ribs and they were awesome. The smokers have an electronic ignition system and are automatic. You can set the temperature and take a nap.
What impressed me when I saw these first was the ability to smoke/grill meat without having to watch it all the time. The wood chips are automatically discharged into the unit with a power auger wheel thus maintaining your temperatures. Visit louisiana-grills.com for more info.
